Rard Family Departs for Two Year Pacific Cruise

I just read in 48 North about the Rard Family (parents with two 12 year-old girls) just departed for a two year Pacific Circle cruise in a new 49 foot Jeanneau.

Their website is http://rubyslippers49.com/wp/

I enjoyed the powerpoint about "unwrapping" the new boat, and it's cool how they have two video cameras on deck. I also think the LCD screen mounted on a bar so that it can face the nav station (for chart plotting and school work) or the main cabin (for entertainment) is a pretty cool idea.

Good to see a family taking off, and I hope the girls can post about their experiences and write the Sail articles as planned.

Now when can I leave?

Jim H

I'll definitely check in on their travels. It sounds like a great trip!
