Cruising on a Baltic 43

Hi there!

Any Baltic 43 owners out there? This is a boat I like for many reasons (although I have yet to sail one) and was wondering if you guys have any advice on pros/cons with regards to it being a good boat for long distance cruising.

All of them are older boats now, so I understand that maintenance is a concern (engine, teak deck, rigging, etc.), but as I'm in the market for a long distance cruiser that won't break the bank I keep coming back to this specific model.

Any thoughts?

Thanks everyone!

Re: Cruising on a Baltic 43

FWIW

I've sailed around Vancouver Island and down the west coast of the US on a friends Baltic 42 DPa few years older than the 43s. It was a rock-steady boat and way more comfortable than the Catalina 42 we were sailing with. The main sail was a beast but we handled the boat with just the two of us just fine. The only issue I can think of is the 8' keel, fine here in the PNW but...

He replaced all the rod rigging, and stripped the worn teak, but other than that I don't think he had any major issues to deal with. I got the aft cabin on one of the trips...what a dream!
