Crusing the North Channel Lake Huron

I'm planning a cruise to the North Channel of Lake Huron this summer. Anyone care to share their experience of that area? I sail a Pearson 34 out of Chicago.

That's where I've been sailing for the last 3 years. It's beautiful, lot's of Gunkholing opportunities, clear & clean water and many great anchorages. When do you plan on coming up? July is very busy as that's when most Americans come to visit, but there's plenty of room. Make sure you have up to date charts.

Anything you would you like to know in particular?

Buy the "Ports" "Guide to the North Channel". It is full of great information. We made the trip in '04 and the guide was invaluable.

I've been up 3 times and once up the 30,000 island inland route. It is fantastic. The Ports Guide is great.
The Pool is getting very weedy. It's no problem for anchoring as there is never any wind but it makes the water less than perfect. It's still worth a visit. The Okechobee lodge is now private so take everything you need with you as you'll be a long days sail from any towns.
Make sure your depth finder works!
Enjoy
