Off the ICW Stops in NC
After spending 3 nights in Edenton, and now in Manteo, I would recommend both places for anyone going through NC. Both are off the regular ICW course, but make for interesting stops.
Edenton has a complimentry 48 hour tie up at the Town Dock, with electricity $3 a night for 30 amp. A dollar a foot after two days. You're right at downtown Edenton, and they will give you a ride to Food Lion to resupply. Good stop for history and architecture buffs.
Manteo, while a little harder to get to (long channels to traverse) is a delightful little town I've just started exploring. Our own camaraderie will probably meet you at the dock and it's worth the trip just to meet this fine gentleman.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Kind of at the other end of our coast, but I do see a few cruisers down at the Cape Fear waterfront in Wilmington.

I went from Georgetown, SC to Wrightsville Beach, so I didn't go up the Cape Fear. Word of mouth says Carolina Beach is a good stop though. Will check out more of the area on my way back south. Next week though, it's Bath and Washington. Forgot to mention, New Bern is worth the trip of the ICW as well.

When are you coming back down. I'll be in Engelhard - Far Creek Harbor July 11 for a week to work on the boat. Free dock, water, electric if you're interested.

Roger,
I'll probaby leave Monday, or maybe Tuesday and head to Oracoke, Then up to Bath and Washington. If I stay at Oracoke long enough, I'll stop by on my way to the Pamlico.

I notice you're keeping away from close up headshots... or full-body portraits... smart but a bit chicken..
