boat insurance

We're looking for insurance for a 45' Leopard. We will be taking possession in Ft. Lauderdale and boat will stay at BVI charters in Tortola. It has been suggested that we attempt to insure with a US based company. We're waiting for a quote from Blue Waters Ins. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Before you sign w/ BWIns, I suggest you do visit ssca.org and do a search on insurance in their discussion group. This company does not get high marks.
We used IMIScorp.net due to recommendations there and were well satisfied with the way we were handled with our claims...but others have their own favorites. This is really just to tell you to do your research on BWIns.

I'd second Hartge.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
