I live in Israel and there are quite a few very new and unexpensive marinas with all main comforts: it's at the far end of the eastern med, but for wintering it's a good option.

Kalamata in Greece?

Why not check out Kalamata in Southern Greece. Small very friendly marina, very good bus connections (and veeeery slow train connection) to Athens, 4-5 hours away. Delightful city with beautiful coastline. very mild winter.
Look at Kalamata in medmarinas.com

Another place to winter would be in Malta, However Malta is a part of the EU now, but we have excellent wintering facilities, english is our second language and close enough to Sicily, If you need further info drop me a line and I will try to get u the info u require.

Good Luck
Mike
