I grew up sailing in Eastern Long Island Sound and now keep my boat in Newport. Depending on the capabilities of your vessel and your own sailing experience, I would generally suggest that you head east from New Haven with Nantucket as your ultimate destination. Along the way, you can hit spots like the CT. river, Mystic, and Stonington in CT and Shelter Island and Cockles Harbor at the eastern end of long island. Newport is a good stopping spot before heading for Cuttyhunk, the Elizabeth Islands, Martha''s Vineyard, and Nantucket. On the return journey from Nantucket, you might want to hit spots on the cape like Chatham, Hyannis, and Woods Hole/Hadley''s Harbor. There are a few nice towns along the western border of Buzzard''s Bay but there names escape me at this point. Send me an email direct if I can be of further assistance.

Mike
