First Overnighter This Weekend!
Hi all. I am finally at the point where most of the major repairs/upgrades have been done to Sundance, so I am finally going to take my wife and sons out for one night at Santa Cruz Island. I figure if it is totally miserable, it's only one night, right? If it is a success (which I think it will be), it will lay the ground work for some multiple night trips. We are going to head out fairly early Friday, hopefully by 0800-0900, and motor-sail to the island, which is straight upwind. We should get there noonish, which will give us time to anchor, or find another anchorage if our spot is too full. We are bringing the new (to us) 12' inflatable, one tandem kayak, fishing gear and snorkeling gear. I figure that I can hoist the boys (13 year-old twins) up the mast in the bosun's chair if they get too bored. Maybe I can get them to hoist me up as well? I know it doesn't sound like much, but this will be a big step towards taking cruising vacations. Wish me luck and I will post with the results.
