Wink 2008 Let's go to the Exumas

Looking for boats to join us for a winter cruise to the Exumas Starting at no name harbor. Looking also to find the best cays to visit and what to do.
Hopefully we can make a go with this and have a great time for all involved.
We are a couple in our 50's....retired....and love to have fun.

There'll be tons of boats in the Miami area waiting to cross from December onwards. We usually cross around Christmas/New Years. We go from Miami to Nassau, check in and then head for the Exumas. We don't go into no name (too crowded) but sometimes anchor off Nixons or anchor in Hurricane hole if the wind's in the west.. We have a B393, "Breathless" what's your boat?

Don't miss the sea aquarium at Obrien's cay, and of course Thundeball Grotto at Staniel. The farther south you go the better, and then you run into Georgetown. Good place to restock, get fresh water, and meet tons of cruising folks.

After this the farther south it even gets sweeter, and more lonely. We loved San Salvador, because no one was there except one other boat....QUIET!!!!! & PRETTY

Nixons is just outside Hurricane Hole on Key Biscayne. Pres Nixon used to have a mansion there with heliport etc. You can anchor anywhere along the shore there from Nixons to the Yacht Club. Not good in a strong westerly, we run into Hurricane Hole then.

As for the Exumas, most new to the area do all the cays, starting at Allens where the iguanas are. I like Normans and Shroud. You have to go up the creeks in Shroud to the ocean side. We always try to take as long as possible going south. That's the best part of the trip. Work our way slowly down to Cave Cay and then out into the sound to Lee Stocking, then you can go inside or outside. The inside trip is very interesting down to Rat Cay then outside (gets too shallow here) to Georgetown where most folks get stuck forever. It's not a bad place to get stuck. But trips to the Jumentos, Conception, Rum or Cat are quite easily done from GT.
