Our PNW Summer Cruise!

The crew of the Kyrie will be departing Edmonds tomorrow for our big summer cruise!

Our plans are:

Friday, Aug 15th: Spend the night on the boat in Edmonds for an early morning departure

Saturday, Aug 16th: Sail (probably motor) to Hope Island, just inside Deception Pass and enjoy the famous rope swing there

Sunday, Aug 17th Hope Island to Stuart Island, the most northwesterly of the San Juans

Monday, Aug 18th Stuart Island to Poet's Cove Resort in Bedwell Harbor on South Pender Island in the Gulf Islands

Tuesday, Aug 19th Continue heading north through the Gulf Islands to Telegraph Harbor on Thetis Island, the northern extermity of our voyage

Wednesday, Aug 20th Head back south to Sidney Spit, in Haro Strait

Thursday, August 21st Short trip to Sidney, on Vancouver Island

Friday, August 22nd Cross back into U.S. waters and head for Sucia or Matia Island

Saturday, August 23rd Head to Bellingham for crew transfer. Erv and Ray will replace the Admiral, Mark, and Hope for a run through the San Juans. Spend the night in Chuckanut Bay

Sunday, August 24th Matia Island

Monday, August 25th Roche Harbor

Tuesday, August 26th Rosario Resort

Wednesday, August 27th James Island or Spencer's Spit

Thursday, August 28th Back to Edmonds

I'm really excited about this trip, and would be happy to meet with any Sailnetters on the way. Look for the Catalina 30.. It's probably us ! OK.. That won't work.. Look for the dark blue Catalina 30..Probably only a couple of hundred of those, as versus thousands...

Sounds exciting and ambitious. Even though I am hard aground (ie no boat here on the Long Beach peninsula), I love the cruising grounds. When I lived in Seattle, I would occaisionally take the ferry around the islands, just to be up on the water in the San Juans. Take care, but have loads of fun!

Have fun David, I don't know if I'll be trying to punch through Deception this weekend or not. That depends on the wind, current timing and what I hear from Maritime Services.

We were in Poet's Cove on August 18th. Spent the night there before heading up to Maple Bay. On the way back to Friday Harbor we stopped in at Poet's Cove again and our cat jumped ship causing us to miss the tide and forcing us to spend another night while we searched for her.
