Delivering a boat to FL. Plan to go outside but may need to use part of the ICW. Has anyone been down this year? The rumor is some spots are much changed since 2006. Boat is full keel 44' and draws 5.5' and should not be a problem but you never know. Using a dated copy of Skipper Bob and cruising guide.

Didn't do all the ICW this past spring (I too prefer outside), but the worst part I encountered was the Jekyll Island area in Georgia (I draw 4.5') My biggest problem was finding the right line through the shallower areas. The markers being far enough apart it was easy to lose the line.

I do know that people continue to have problems at the Northern exit from the Alligator River in NC. The alternate route down the Neuse River and up the Pamlico sound to the Albemarle has no problems.

I've yet to figure out why that is cam. I've been through there 6 times and never had a problem in the marked channel.

Second the recommendation on Salty Southeast. Forgot to mention that earlier. It is an invaluable guide to all things ICW.
