Hello, yet agan. Can anyone recommend a good wind, current and tide guide? Paticularly for the South Pacific? The Caribbean seems to be well covered. I''m going to be plotting our rough itinerary, and am wondering if the course we want to sail is do-able. Which is enter the South Pacific through Pananma in April, sail to New Zealand roughly along the 20 degree mark visiting French Polynesia, Lower Cooks, Niue, Tonga then head south. Head north the east hitting Fiji, the Samoas, Northern Cooks then the Line Islands then taking a left to Hawai''i before Typhoon season. It is a very rough draft. And I doubt we''ll have enough time to visit everywhere we want, including New Zealand.

Re: SoPac references, you would find wind/current planning info in:
- Ocean Passages of the World
- Pilot Charts for the Pacific Ocean
- To some extent, in Cornell''s Ocean Routes

Because of your intended route, you may want to visit the following web site:
http://www.svfelicity.com/articles/
Both the ''Coconut Mile Run'' and the ''New Zealand Guide'' seem relevant for you. The former is intended for folks coming down to Mexico from the States and then jumping off for the SoPac but much of the content on the passage and destinations is spot on. The NZ guide is apparently not ''finished'' yet, but should arrive shortly.

Cath & Ken on FELICITY are good folks, very bright and thorough in their work. I''d respect their comments and think the Milk Run document is solid stuff.
