Anchorages in Key West

I've searched the archives and found only one recommendation for Christmas Tree Island - is that the same as Wisteria Island? Wisteria looks like it might do for a few nights too.

Are there any other decent places to drop a hook around Key West. Looking specifically for something within a dinghy ride to Key West. We'll be there the end of November in a Beneteau 423.

Thanks!

Hate to piggyback this thread but on a related subject . . . . . . .

If one were to anchor off the beaten path around Key West is the boat safe from browsers when you dingy to the shore?

There is an unamed island on the charts just south of Wisteria. Perhaps that is locally called Christmas Tree. In any event...last time I was there, they did anchor off of both of those islands. It is quite a long dinghy ride in and the holding and currents make it NOT a great anchorage. (Perhaps a BahamasMoor is called for) There are plenty of town moorings East of Wisteria with a shorter run to town and confirmed holding power and that is what we used.
While crime is not real high...I still would lock my dink ashore and lock my boat when away.
