Bahamas Bound! Anyone else?

My wife and I are in Port Everglades, waiting for weather. Just wondering if anyone else is near. Its looking like we are going to head down to Key Biscayne, then to Bimini and on.

Lake Worth to the West End is the route I would preffer. But trying to accomodate my wife with a shorter passage. Anyway with a few other boats leaving at night from Lake Worth to the West End may not be that hard to sell.

Oh, just rub it in, crossing to Bimini......and here I set huddled next to my diesel fired heater and rewiring my electrical panel.

No really, Have a great trip and don't listen to the US news till you get back. Have a cold one for us when you get there!!

A better piece of advice is don't listen to the US news or any other kind of news EVER! Have a wonderful time. I'll be doing the same soon.

Have a cold one and a conch salad for us when you get to Bimini! Safe journey.

We'll probably be doing it in January, and probably enjoy the same conditions we had coming down the New Jersey coast earlier this week :). Good luck on your crossing!

We usually cross around Christmas/New Years. We go from Miami/Biscayne Bay to North Rock and then on to Nassau to clear in. If the Tongue of the Ocean isn't cooperating we hide behind Fraziers Hog Cay. Boat's name is "Breathless" a B393. See you over there.

My wife and I left Port Everglades as planned for a nice 30 mile sail to Key Biscayne. And about 3/4 of the way there the autopilot starts failing. WHAT A SURPRISE. So as we pass Government Cut heading to Biscayne channel our steering fails altogether. So acting fast we got the sails down and anchor out, and Boat U.S. on the radio. So after a nice sail we ended up being towed to marine stadium where we are currently anchored as we repair the hydraulic steering. Where a dime sized hole in my hydraulic hose was named the culprit.

Well at least that is an easy one! Do you have another option if that were to happen at sea?
Fair winds!

Cam, lets just say I learned my lesson leaving without the emergency tiller in a convenient spot. And never again will I do so. But yes simple fix.
