I know it seems the popular advice is to wait and save for the 51 footer before leaving sight of the coast, but it's fun to see some young guys have a good time in a much smaller craft and much smaller budget.
They have sold the boat and are on foot now, but doing over 16,000 miles from Norway to New Zealand is pretty impressive. Their 1976 Leisure 22 list from about $7,000 over here (with 8 hp outboards), but their prep decisions were pretty sound. I like the picture from their Atlantic crossing that shows dual genoas flying.
