Cruising with Birds

Does anyone know what restrictions there are for birds in most countries ? Also, do birds do well on boats ? I'm considering a pair of pet finches, but I don't want to get a pet that is going to cause troubles in a foreign country.

Given the Avian Flu scare, I would imagine that laws regarding pet birds are rather draconian in many places.

Travelling with Birds

Checkout other forums like BirdBoard.Com - Parrot Message Board & Pet Bird Owner Forums for info on traveling with birds. Lots of people do it. But, it can be a pain.

Good luck.

That's an understatement.. ;)

Okay, so no birds seems like the consensus. It sounds like you shouldn't leave port with any bird you don't plan to eat before you arrive at your next destination. :D

Our long range plans are: get the birds a new home, then go sailing. One of our birds gets horrible motion sickness anyway. Who woulda thought?
