note: I need this device only for music, nothing else

B) What are your favorite artist/albums/tracks to put the icing on the cruising cake?
Two of our favorites... (be sure to click on the links to sample music from either site, if you're not already familiar with these performers).

Pat Daly Pat Dailey a great & prolific ballad singer with lots of nautical themed songs in his repetrau.

Jami Sieber | Electric & Acoustic Cellist, Vocalist and Composer a passionate electric and acoustic Cellist with world beat rhythms to prayerful stillness -- for any music tastes or occassion.

You should get Eric Stones Boatsongs 1, 2 and 3. His Scubatunes 1 and 2 are in the same vein. If you can get Barefoot Man, he has an upbeat, fun style.

By "Islands" I presume you mean the West Indies.

After thirty years in Hawaii I have an extensive collection of both contemporary and classic Hawaiian as well as a little modern Tahitian. Also lots of country, jazz, blues, rock, Motown, mariachi and classical.

Unfortunately, I have very little Reggae and nothing else I could classify as Caribbean so any suggestions you can offer are more than welcome.

I would also like to add some Latin and African.

The only thing I cannot tolerate is Hip-Hop or rap.

try Decemberists,
Hooverphonics and don't forget Pink Floyd.
I rearely listen to music while I am actually sailing... I want to hear things around the boat, the hum of the rigging and the woosh of the bow wave...
Best sound...
But when at anchorage, I will listen to the radio or the CD player
while I cooking or cleaning up
