ICW-Hilton Head to Chesapeake

Looking at a boat in South Carolina and just wonder what I am in for if I bring her back myself (from Hilton Head to the Chesapeake)? How long should I plan for, assuming little or no night sailing and probably doing around 6 knots (boat is 40 feet). What restrictions might I encounter regarding draft and mast height? I''ll get the proper charts and plan it out myself if this gets serious, but I just figure someone here has done this trip and give me a feeling for it. (Basically, I have to see if I can get enough vacation or if I would have to have it delivered part way up.)
