Rent a Slip for a month or anchor out

So if we are going to the keys or nearby like Fort Myers is it better to rent a slip and then day sail the area of just cruise around anchoring out?? Since overnight slip rentals can be expensive one or two overnights might be the same as a whole month's rentals. Also with a month or two the car can be brought to the marina. what do the people who are living the dream do??

A lot depends on how self-sufficient your boat is.... if you have the ability to re-charge your batteries while at anchor, preferably not by running the engine... then anchoring out probably makes sense. If not, renting a slip is probably the better option.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
