Catalina 30 in Annapolis

Well I took the plunge and bought a Catalina 30 and currently have it docked at Annapolis City Marina. I should be completely moved onboard by next week.
Anyone have any tips about living aboard in Annapolis in the winter?
I was thinking of making a plywood hatch to replace the 3 boards so going in and out in foul weather wouldn't be so bad while docked.

mitiempo will become famous soon enough
I have a sunbrella flap that attaches with snaps to the aft top of the sliding part of the companionway hatch. If I am on board I use this, easy to open and close and for the winter the cockpit should be covered anyway so rain is not an issue. It has a sleeve at the botton with a strip of wood in it for a bit of weight. Easy to roll up the bottom few inches and clip where I want with a small plastic clamp for extra ventilation. I compared this with the hatch boards on a cool night and couldn't tell the difference as far as inside temp goes. When I leave the boat I roll it up on top of the slider and put the hatch boards in. Here's a pic that shows it rolled up on top - though not very well.

ps - buy a good heater - I like the Caframo as it's quiet and compact but puts out a lot of heat - several heat settings to choose from. Here's the link to Caframo. Caframo- Innovation and Excellence
