From Portland To Bahamas

How many have made this trip from Portland Oregon (or the northern pacific) to Florida keys or Bahamas. If so how long did it take and what should a person look for or look out for? What route did you take? What was the cost through the Panama Canal? And many many more questions about this trip. Please give me your opinions and the size and type of boat you did this on. Thanks in advance

I'd suggest you read the back copies of the "Changes in Latitudes" sections of Latitude 38. They are online at

Latitude 38 Changes in Latitudes Index

If you are clever with Google, you can also search these archives by key words.

An example of such a trip is documented in these letters. I believe a couple in Seattle fixed up a Cal 34 and did the trip you describe.
