PhilipH2 is on a distinguished road
Down East Circle Route

We are planning on doing this trip in 2011 and have Cheryl Barr's book but I ma looking for advice/recommendations on Pilot Books/Cruising Guides for NE USA/Canada to fill in the gaps. Many books on offer are very old and out of date. All help appreciated.

Philip, can't help much with up to date cruising guides -- all of mine are 20 years old, but still of use as most of the places you'll really want to see in New England don't change much and don't change very quickly. Most of the rocks in Maine are where they were 20 years ago and the mud in most anchorages hasn't changed in the last few hundred years. Most of the things in a cruising guide that can get out of date, like docks, mooring services, boat yards and other "marine facilities" on offer are likely to be overpriced and avoided if at all possible.
