Advise on boat registration

Good day sailors

I wonder if somebody can give me some advice on where to register a sail boat in the EU?

Right now we have a small sail boat (Samurai 7m X 2,4m) in our backyard registered in the UK, but as we moved to Spain we do not have an address in the UK anymore and we must now renew the registration. Our Moody is also registered there which means that sooner or later we will have to register elsewhere.

I would like to know if there is a European country where we can register the boat without being a resident. We are living in Spain and because of their regulations we just cannot register there.

As of last Jan. a resident can have a boat registered outside of Spain if the registration tax is paid.

I sure would like to sail with my Canadian flag but it would cause problems when comes the time to sell the boat.

Thank you for your advice.

Many people in your situation " find" a UK address that they can use and continue the SSR.

Yes, this is what I wanted to do but I've been told that just an address does not work any more a proof of residence is required.
