Insurance refused ?? Help

Hi Guys . Lets start this insurance thing again.I live in Australia. Planning a trip starting May 2004. Australia - Cocos Keeling - Chagos -Seychelles - Madagascar - Durban South Africa to start.

My first blue water cruise.
I have a 38'' steel Roberts Spray kitted out to cruise. Spent a heap geting it ready to go. The boat is valued "as is" ready to go at Aus $ 80 000 even though I''ve spent lots more on it. Tried to get insurance through Patenius in the UK for the trip. Primarily want third party in case I bump into some ones plastic fantastic. Patenius refused my application.

Help any advice with this is appreciated. Someone told me it is because I dont have enough experience. Any email address''s to brokers would be aprreciated.

Insurance refused ?? Help

Keep trying. I was refused by three companies on my first boat, but my homeowners came thru. But that was for local use.

Insurance refused ?? Help

My car insurance company also insures boats and homes, but they refused, even though I already have a long standing car policy with them. Their grounds had more to do with the age of the boat than anything else. These folks are actuarials (bean counters) who minimize their risks with set guidelines about what they''ll insure.

So, I asked what they recomended I do, and they suggested BoatUS who did accept my application, and gave a pretty good rate too. I don''t know if they work with owners outside the US or not, but give them a try.
