Boat registration

I''m wondering if there is a "best" place to register/purchase a boat for use (and storage) in the Caribbean. I''m looking for a 40''er to cruise with intermittently - hoping to do a lap of the Caribbean in the next two years. There are really two questions.
1. Where to register.
2. Where to dock.
So is Florida, San Juan, USVI, BVI, or what best. Considerations include sales tax, duty, available services, available mooring/dockage, airfare.
Any thoughts?

There''s no sales tax, nor duties on boats and boating gear in the Virgin Islands. Registration in VI is probably in the $150.00 ballpark. I have to go register a 35'' Bristol this week. I''ll let you know.

VIEXILE..Please let me know the details of your registration adventure..I have a 40'' sailboat I need to register and would prefer non tax, no duty, etc...is the VI you''re referring to American VI or BVI?
