Suggestions for Watermaker

Hello all,

I am currently in the market for a watermaker. My budget is about $5000.00. Any suggestions?

Build your own. My 540 gallon per day one cost me around $700.

Take a look at this. Even if you don't build one it's good to understand how they work.

I like Spectra, however, your budget is light.

Jeanneau 54DS

In the harsh marine environment, something is always in need of repair. Margaritas fix everything.

Re: Suggestions for Watermaker

Brent,

If you can post your design info or send it to me pm, that would be great. If I can build one myself, I would actaully enjoy that. I just printed off the PDF described above and will look at that also. Our boat leave for a circumnavigation on May 3rd of this year. I am getting excited.

Re: Suggestions for Watermaker

FYI, I looked at the info regarding building a watermaker. It was a good start, but it certainly does not provide enough information. It describes a pump for the watermaker, but it does not describe what kind of motor to attach. it is going to take a while to get that figured out. As for the gentleman above who said he made a watermaker for 700 dollars, I would love to know how. The high pressure pumps alone cost over 1000 dollars and the membranes are expensive. I would certainly like to see a breakdown of costs and how he did it.
