anyone out there cruising with a teenager?

We are a family of four (two girls, 12 and 14) making plans for a year-long trip to the Med and back, leaving next summer (2004). As we are planning for the trip, and anticipating life "aboard", my 14-year old has some reservations about leaving friends, etc. She would really like make contact with other teenagers who are cruising with their families, to ask them what it''s really like.
Anyone out there who could help?

Want to say something about bringing your own storm with you - Sorry - couldn''t help myself. You are not alone - suggest you post this on Cruising World and SSCA boards too there seems to be more activity there
Good Luck

Send me an email and I can give you my daughter''s email. She cruised with us for a few years and is now a 17 year-old college student. I think she''d be happy to talk to your daughter.

If your kids get along reasonably well, they will do much better than one by herself. It all depends on the kids, but mine loved it.

I read a book by Tom Neale called "All in the Same Boat" in which he and his wife cruised with their two daughters. At the time the boat was written both were teenagers , but I believe now one or both are in college.
You may be able to contact them through Cruising World or International Marine and possibly get some first hand insights. I believe the girls shared the V-berth on their boat and the parents had an aft cabin.
