Huricane Pass, Dunedin. Navigable?

Hi Folks,

I have just relocated my new boat (new to me, anyway) to Marker 1 Marina in Dunedin Fl. She's an Atkins double-ender with a 4 1/2 foot draft (full keel). I'm looking at the charts and hoping I can use Hurricane pass which would give me a straight shot into open water. I'm getting mixed answers when I'm asking the locals about my being able to use it. I am starting to think I will have to head north under the drawbridge, and then out north of Honeymoon Island. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Here is a good link for information... Cruiser's Net Search Results “hurricane pass”

On that page you'll see that someone says they never saw less than 6' going through Hurricane Pass (although that was posted about a year ago). I would think that there must be someone at the marina who has followed the channel out and could tell you about depths.

Have you looked at Active Captain (www.activecaptain.com)? They would have a lot of current data on the shoaling in the pass. It might be a good starting point.
