Belize and Bay of Chetumal

I''m desperate to find information regarding the navigability of the Bay of Chetumal and Corozal Bay in northern Belize.

Is it feasible to sail a 5 to 6 ft draft boat around A.C. through these waters to the New River and Corozal Town areas?

Anybody out there sailed in this area? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Tom, I''d suggest corresponding with the charter companies operating in Belize. The kind of info you are looking for can significantly depend on the last storm''s effects and may not be accurately found in Rauscher''s guide to the western Caribbean (which I assume you''ve looked at). You need current, local info - as I''m sure you are aware. Perhaps the charter companies can also offer you some referrals.

Another option that perhaps is available to you is to join the W Caribbean Net on their daily sessions and inquire of boats that are currently sailing in those waters. It is held on 8.155 USB at 0900 local time, but it''s a little confusing to be sure you know which ''local'' time so you may need to search for it a bit. If you''re in the Florida area, you should be able to talk with them.

I have a business card from John Edwards, I don''t know if he is still there though. Ambergris Caye is a beautiful place, great fishing and diving.
