Best Marinas in Clearwater/St Pete areas

Going to be arriving within the next 1-3 weeks aboard a E27. My plans are to live aboard and spend a few months in the area looking at larger boats and hopefully meeting and learning from fellow sailor's. I'm familiar with the St Pete City Marina, seems like a good place to stay with access to restaurants, etc. but in all probability will be moving around to different marinas. My transportation more than likely will be by bike so having amenities nearby is important. Any info would be appreciated.

Well old son, you don't seem to be getting much traction, eh?

Based on your comments, the Harborage might be your best option. It's a nice marina and might have space for you. For more information on the area, try ActiveCptain.com. You'll have to register but it's free and there's a wealth of information on that sight.

FWIW...

Got nothing to offer other than on the City Marina which you already plan to stay at. I spent a few months there last year. It is in a great location for walking to food, shopping, etc. The facilities are quite good, the folks working there are quite good, and the sailing around the bay is not bad. There tends to be a LOT of growth when the water is warm. Live-aboards abound and there is usually something to do downtown or at the marina itself. Biking around St Pete is pretty easy and the Pinellas trail isn't far from the marina. Bear in mind that you will be downtown and there will be plenty of homeless and pan handlers around. The neighborhoods just off the water front are not so great and there is good deal of crime once you are out of the touristy areas of downtown. The police have a significant presence along the water front area but that diminishes as you head inland. Tampa/St Pete was my home for many years and I still have a place there. It seems to be in perpetual improving mode without ever arriving.

We're in the Chart House Marina and Suites in Clearwater Beach. Been liveaboard in and out of here since 2005. Can be noise and busy during Spring Break but still like the place. Liveaboard folks here are all great.
