best starting place to get to block island

My summer vacation this year is Block Island. I will be heading eastward on Long Island sound ( Ct/RI shore) I want to be able to make the hop to Block as easy as possible. Suggestions to start from the day before I leave??? ( I don''t want to make a long sail (more than 10 hrs) to block)

Try Point Judith Harbor of Refuge, RI bay 41° 21'' 55" N 71° 30'' 25" W . It should be about 10-12 nm to Block Island. Plenty of safe anchorage. Easy to get in and out. The town of Gallilee offers some great seafood restaurants or you can buy lobster right off the boats. Watch for the ferries that run out to Block from there.

Try West Harbor at Fishers Island NY, town mooring and ancerage, or The Kitchen at Watch Hill RI, ancerage only. Can dink in for food.
