Mayaguana Island, Bahamas

Is anyone familiar with the entrances to Abraham Bay, and fuel availability, on Mayaguana Island.

It has been a while but I would be surprised if there is a fuel dock. Jugs and a taxi were the only option the last time I was there.

Re the entrance as always ONLY do this in good light with some one experienced i reading the water, again it has been a while but I do not remember any significant difficulties and it was possibleto snug right up fairly close to the head of the bay. If in any doubt Betsy bay gives some shelter though you will roll.

Friends of ours went through there recently. The more reasonable access is from the west and will require careful visual piloting to the area nearer the settlement to the east. Fuel is available but only in drums by arrangement. Call "Scully" on VHF 16, a self appointed Ambassador in the area. See Activecaptain.com for more information.

Great spot, but basically no services, although the locals said that a restaurant/bar was being built. We entered from the west and kept a GPS plot going in (lot of zig-zagging) that helped coming out. The dock is almost dry at low tide.
