video: Visiting friends on s/v Bubbly, part 1

Renee and Lynette have sailed over 30,000 nautical miles aboard their 27 foot steel sailboat "Tekaihau" since pushing off from New Zealand. They recently pulled into Dutch Sint Maarten in the Caribbean and sold Tekaihau. Then they bought a much larger sailboat, a 1968 Moody Halberdier 36. They renamed her "Bubbly" and are now refitting her to continue on their circumnavigation back to New Zealand.

We visited Renee and Lynette at Bobby's Marina/boatyard on the Dutch side of Saint Martin and made a little video for your enjoyment.

I always really appreciate hearing what anyone thinks of these videos to help me improve on future ones..

Thanks!

Happy sailing,

Drake

Unvented propane locker with an Isotherm compressor in it?... or more like BOOM!
$7K fine!

It might have been quieter at the airport

By the above comments I do not mean to imply that the vid was un-interesting... It is.
Lynette has a far different perspective on things than my SO...

And, those planes were a nuisance.

Hi Eherlihy,

I'm glad you liked the vid. I'm just in awe of how far Renee and Lynette have sailed in such a small boat as Tekaihau. Bubbly is a mansion in comparison. I hope to visit Renee and Lynette in New Zealand when we sail our boat Paragon there.

I thought about editing out the airplanes and their background sounds, but I wanted to show what it's really like there as much as I could.

After we got back from Saint Martin I bought a new camera with a shotgun microphone that plugs into it. The mic has a wind screen that wraps around it. I think it going to greatly improve the audio recordings in our upcoming videos. I first used it in a series where Monique and I are crewing aboard an elegant Mooris Yachts 47 in the Leukemia Cup Regatta in Oriental, NC. There was a lot of wind, but it sounds much better.

Thanks,

Drake
