St. Marys, Ga

Can anyone give me their opinion on the sailing in and around St. Marys, Ga, Fernandina Beach, Amelia Island Fl area. Are there adequate marinas? Day sailing?
Is the sailing mostly off shore?

Mark

Cathy

Can you be a bit more specific about the areas. Are the marinas dockominium?

Can one day sail without going offshore? Which communities would you recommend for possible relocation?

Thanks
Mark

I replied to your email hope you got it. Forgot to tell you there are some places to sail inland as well as offshore. Thus far no dockaminiums up here yet but I am sure they'll be coming. The ICW is also beautiful but pretty narrow in most paces so it's a motor vs. a sail in most areas around here. Cathy

Darian

Just north of Brunswick Ga is a sleepy little town that is being discovered and is waking up.

Darian GA => stop by Two Way Fish Camp / Resturant(GREAT!) & Marina (ok). Nice folks....

Rads...St Mary's has one marina which is quite friendly and the town is nice. Fernandina has several..Tiger Point, Fernandina Marina (currently being dredged...should be great when done), and Amelia Island. The town is also quite a bit bigger than St. Mary's and a bit yuppified but also quite nice when the paper mills aren't spewing! As for sailing...there is not much available in shore but Cumberland Island is a national treasure and a great place to explore and anchor out. You can also go offshore and up to St. Simons and Jeckly Island in a day so that is pretty good sailing for the east coast of FL! Boatyards for repairs are at Tiger Point and Brunswick.
