You may already have left on your cruise up the
Delta, and if so, you know we've got LOTS of wind here. I grew up an East Coast
dinghy sailor, where 20 was really blowing. Here, 20's normal, maybe even light! Of course, down in the Bay, there's plenty for you guys, too. When I first come out, my husband had a 30 footer that drew under four feet. We could scoot around anywhere. Now we're in a husky old girl that we're getting ready to take south and across the Pond this fall. She needs to stay in the channel, which my husband discovered by nudging a bit of ground.
The
Delta has really deep water and really shallow water. We're up the San Juaquin, where the wind blows either up or down river 90% of the time, so you get to run one way and beat the other. They just had a glorious race go past us last Sat. and any boat that wasn't watching its angle chanced a
spinnaker dump in the river. Very exciting.
Hope you have a glorious time.
Blessings,
Normandie
