Carrying Motorcycles

Hi, would like to hear from anyone who has carried motorcycles onboard, how you stored them and how you got them on and off the boat. Been racking my brains for an efficient way to do this. Of course it would be easy on a mega yacht, but this will be on a smaller boat say 40 - 50 foot. And I'm talking about a full size BMW dirt bike which weighs around 220 pounds.

Thanks!

I know it's clunky, buy you need a foldable metal ramp for easy moving on and off the boat. Where do you intend to secure and store the boat while underway?

Hmm at this stage I was thinking of a rack on the transom. I guess not many people have done this, but I would really like to have land transport without relying on taxis or rental cars. Thanks for the advice, I'm going to see if an engineer friend of mine can work up some sketches...

I don't think a rack on the transom is a very good idea. First, it puts a lot of weight at the very stern of the boat... which is generally not a great idea. Second, the motorcycles would be exposed to a fair amount of spray and might even get soaked by following seas... I'd imagine that salt water immersion and spray will quickly kill a motorcycle.
