I think you are going the wrong direction!

First of all, I think you will be two months too late. I would go in May at the latest. That said, I would go to Bimini to Nassau down the Exhumas to Georgetown then to Luperon in the DR from there work your way along the top of the DR and along the south coast of Puerto Rico to the USVI. But, keep your eye on the weather systems in the eastern Atlantic. in 1974 we were sailing from the USVI to New York in July and got hit by a hurricane half way between Hatteras and Bermuda. We did a 360 and were lucky to have survived.
