I would recommend it. lottsa locks. only did from peterborough west about 60 miles. what is your draft? I think a lot is only 5 foot depth

Canada reports 1.8 meters or 5'10". If that is accurate I will have no problem. I did talk to one guy who did not trust Parks Canada's figure.

You might check on the cruisersforum.com. There's one Canadian Coast Guard employee that I know of in Ontario. Think he could give you some good info.

Thanks for that info on the Canadian CC. I will give that a try. At this point my plan is to head to the canal and look for people who have just come out and get info from them. I am only 100 miles away now, but will not enter the canal until mid/late August when I have crew aboard for the trip.

I grew up there as a kid. Done the whole area a million times. You'll be fine, with room to spare. Promise. Done it myself with 5'6'' normal draft and a fat guy aboard.

This is what I needed to hear. I am in Midland right now and ready to Demast. Others I have talked with around here echo your opinion. I am entering early next week as soon as my crew gets here from the US.

You'll have a great time. Be careful to know if you're going upstream or down in some of those lakes (ie.Stoney). Some of them have more than one outflow and thus the bouys can be a bit confusing if you're not sure if you're coming or going. If you leave the main channel pay attention to those home made bleach jug bouys. Locals tend to take time to mark out the dangerous rocks with them but they're easy to miss on an overcast day. Passing through Lakefield is something you won't forget. I believe it's one of the worlds highest hydrolic lift locks. Good luck.
