Insurance leads . . .
I''m thinking of contacting Don Street for insurance. My ins. co. just informed me that my policy is NFG as of April because my homeowners and auto are no longer with them. The idiots don''t seem to get it that the boat is sitting in a yard in Maine and is probably the best risk they ever took. I''m 1.) trucking the boat to FL and 2.) sailing it through the Bahamas to VI and 3.) keeping it in the VI permanently. I suppose I could move it south of 12N to Trinidad or Venezuela for a few months a year, but I''d rather stick in the ground up in Virgin Gorda, drip the mast and call it good. In the ground? They take a backhoe, dig a hole narrower than the width of the boat, block the boat under the keel and use short stands. If it SHOULD fall over in a hurricane, it can''t go very far. How about some names of specific insurors that might be receptive to the realities of life in the Virgin Islands? KW
