buckobilly is on a distinguished road
us west coast northbound advice?

May be making first northbound passage SF to Puget Sound. Are there any good reads out there regarding this route? Tips from those that have made the passage? Thanks.

Truck it. I think there was some discussion about that trip some time ago, as I recall the advice was head for Hawaii reprovision, then tack over and up the Japanese current.

Along the coast, once past Tomales or maybe even Eureka, harbors or safe havens become slim to none. But I guess, if you have a a lot of time on your hands you can pick the weather over 5 or 6 months or so.

You may find that the cost for sailing or trucking may be pretty equal. I had considered it at one time til I decided I really don't like cold. But my idea was to take the boat to Ensenada and have it hauled up there in one of these barge things, don't remember the name, but it seemed practical.

You may check out Latitude 38 and The Log websites, there used to be articles by Capt. John Raines re deliveries, most were south, but there may be some read there.

By the way, do you know a couple up in the bay area who have two bull dogs on their boat?

Good luck

Ian-

LOL... They're genius Bull Terriers... although she called them bull dogs, which are clearly a different breed.... if you're talking about the dog lady.

And SFO to Seattle via Hawaii is a bit on the round about routing... However, given the currents and winds, it might be a very enjoyable trip...if somewhat over long.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
