Major freak out for Wombat cos if we do decide to buy new boat in NZ this is the stretch of water we have to cross to get home. The Tasman Sea has a very nasty reputation for dishing out this kind of nastiness. I does seem a tad strange that they set out when winds in excess of 30kts were predicted but maybe they didn't realise how ugly a sea can be whipped up in the Tasman.
