Beaufort & Cape Fear Inlets

I''m going down the ICW this summer. I want to go offshore for the portion from Beaufort, NC to Cape Fear, NC. Can anyone who has done this share some local knowledge please? Are the inlets straighforward to navigate? Any offshore traffic to watch out for, e.g. fishing fleets, etc? Crew of just 2 and I expect a 20-24 hour passage, so some night sailing or motoring is planned. (the boat is 40'' w/ 6''1" draft.)

Beauort inlet, Masonboro inlet, and Cape fear are the three best inlets on the coasts of NC you will have no trouble at all.Be careful of Frying pan shoals if you are coming into Cape Fear inlet. E-mail if you want more info, I am in Wilmington.
