Late Season Tropical Storm

Not looking good for going South until next week as a tropical storm has formed in the Caribbean and is projected to move North along US coast, passing hatteras next Friday. 13-14 ft seas in Gulf Stream w/ North wind of about 30kts. Hope everyone out there heading South will stay safe!

We got a good two days of heavy rain from this system when it was just a low passing south of us (it had moved west/southwest of us by the time it developed into a depression/storm). Still strong winds the past two days - especially yesterday - and coming from the south made the Caribbean side very choppy.

We went out scuba diving today and it was still very rough on the surface. Visibility was reduced a bit from the usual crystal clear - only about 60ft or so at one site, and down to about 40ft at the other (shallower) site. Still a fun day though - aside from the ride to/from.

Well, I'm hauling the boat on Tuesday... so the storms don't matter any more...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I've got friends that spen all last week bashing south from Annapolis, last I heard were still not in Norfolk due to unrelated, but high winds just the same.
I thought most insurance companies kept you north of South Carolina until Nov 1st anyway?

Yup...we have a lot of boats stacked up in NC right now...waiting for weather and the calendar. Looks like the storm will be well out to sea but wind/waves will make the ICW the choice for the week ahead.
