Randy, You're asking a difficult question without some other variables. I've been living aboard for 36 years, but only out on a fulltime cruise for the last five years. If I were poking about and living on the hook in my "home waters", where I am close to potential job resouces and not subject to the stress of bad weather needs (hurricanes or the frozen north) ; then, I would only need a single, month's reserve. If I were cruising far into foreign waters, I might want to have 6 months available. If I'm on a boat that I am willing to lose if fate requires; then, I just need enough reserve to send myself back to my homeland. If my investment in my boat would require that I spend the majority of it's value in order to keep it;, then, I'd need that value in reserve. Freedom is not just the adventure, but the acceptance of potential loss. 'take care and joy, -Aythya crew
