From Buffalo to Ontario beaches...

say I want to "cruise" (a whole 10 miles) to Crystal Beach, how would I legally do that? IIRC there is no customs dock there, can I just call the 888 number, give my info, and go swimming or what?

Basically yes...you might have to wait until the Border Officers come have a look, but they might just clear you over the phone if you have Nexus.

Maybe it's about damn time I sent in the Nexus info, we cross the border often enough (in a car, say twice a month) that it would be nice to have.

If you are going to be sailing across often I think you'll find it worth the money. There could be a considerable delay if you have to wait for officers to come from Fort Erie out to Crystal Beach.

Interesting, I didn't realize that nexus applied to boats as well as car traffic. I'm in Buffalo too and sail out of Crystal Beach all the time (trailer my sunfish over there and launch it), I should look into the nexus thing.

Does anyone know if everyone in the boat has to have a Nexus pass for it to work, or just the captain?
