Please reply your opinion of the Warrior 37'' or the Cheoy Lee Offshore 38'' re: both coastal and blue water cruising suitability. I believe that Richards may have also designed the Alajuela 38''?

Dave, take a good look at the engine installation in Richards-designed Cheoy Lees. In that era in his larger designs he tended to favor putting engines below the cabin sole vs. using a V-drive and pushing the engine aft of the interior living spaces. It left the engine oil pan only a few inches above the bottom of the bilge, and numerous owners of those designs have struggled with frozen starter motors and needing to pull out the engine to replace the pan.
