Favorite Stopping Points

We are going to be in the Caribbean/Central America/North coast of South America around November of 2003. We are in the process of buying charts and deciding which islands and countries we might want to stop at. If anyone has any strong recommendations for favorite places and/or places not to go, we would love it if you would pass those ideas on to us. Thanks so much! Emily

Jost Van **** in the BVI is a must.

I agree that Jost Van **** is a must.If you like to snorkle,some of the best snorkling I found was off of Guana island.I may not have this island name correct,but everyone down there referred to it as "Monkey Point." If you like to snorkle,you''ll love it! Jost Van **** is very beautiful! I believe the best anchorage/beach area is called "Whitecastle."Very good snorkling.Also,there is/was? a little bar on the beach that serves a drink called a "Painkiller." The recipe for it is/was? on any bottle of Pussers rum.The drink is very tropical and tasty, and I believe it originated at the little bar on Whitecastle.It doesn''t get much better than a few hours snorkling at Whitecastle,followed up with a few Painkillers at sunset.It be no problem mon! if u have time to drop the hook, relax and meet new friends, Georgetown, Bahamas is a definite. At it''s peak, there are probably 400 yachts in the harbour. The cruisers reghatta is usually sometime in march, althought it''s more scavenger hunts and cocktailing than racing, it''s fun to meet alot of people out living the dream in a safe environment. (not that most ports aren''t safe.)

Foxy''s at Jost Van **** is definitely fun, but I also really like Cooper Island in the BVI.

If you really want to get away from it all, consider the island of Saba, though it''s rocky, near vertical shores may not be the best cruising destination. It has some of the best diving I''ve found. Pretty much undeveloped, but with a few really good places to eat.
