want to do coastal cruising along west coast fla. an up east coast to maine . my intentions were to go off shore now an then when the sea,s were right,other then that i,d use the icw. would also like to go to the islands.off fla. Wife has a question as is the boat capable .We have a S-2. 30 ft, 86 model purchased new,well equip,d . no ssb radio or radar. We have sailed aroundthe gulf ,mostly destin plus an minus 50 miles.. We are now say 60 yr,s young

It would seem that you plant to use your boat in a conservative and careful fashion. I think it would be a good idea to insure that everything is working well and consider if you have all of the little things you need for safety (eg. reliable and easy reefing, lifesling and harness, appropriate ground tackle. If you plan to head as far north as New England then you might find radar a very useful thing to have.

Yes the boat is fine, I had a 29'' boat that I sailed around the world in durning the late 70s and early 80''s. I sold her and just bought a 43 footer from a couple who were 69 and 71 and had just finished cruising. Common sense and stay in shape.
