We''re new to this. Just bought a 1977 Pearson 323 and love it. No major work required and just the right amount of tinkering needed. So... here we sit at Solomons Island, ready to venture into the Chesapeake. Any suggestions for a day trip/weekender? Thanks ahead of time!

Make sure that you are comfortable with your new boat before you venture too far out of the Pax River. When you are ready for an "adventure" the Little Choptank River is only a couple of hours away. Hudson Creek is a favorite of mine. Slaughter Creek has a small marina and bar. Across the creek from the marina is a very cool country store.
If the weather doesn''t cooperate and you don''t want to fight your way upwind back to Solomons, Flag Harbor Yacht Haven is across the Bay from the Little Choptank (just north of the nuke plant) and the guys there (John and Bruce) can fix you up with a slip until the wind shifts. Have fun!

Hi,the places mentioned sound great for a start,but try anchoring out more.You''ll find it very satisfying,& a lot cheaper. Of course this is all dependent on having a dinghy. Have fun
