Cruising the Arabian, Red and Med
Yes Paulk, there where 3 pirate attacks when we were making a passage from Salala, Oman to the Red Sea last March. One was also a French couple, fortunately or unfortunately, the lady was shot at her leg and the pirates took everything the could carry. The couple was lucky to escape alive and could arrive Aden. I met them in Isreal. It was not so fortunate for another boat which was also attacked, and one englishmen were shot in the head and died. My boat was lucky, at the same time, we were sailing closer to the north, near Yemen, was visited by a french helicopter, and a french warship. So we decided to sail directly thru the gulf to Eritreia. We were lucky, and we made the right decision. Are you planning to sail over that area?
